Loket nad Ohří

The early years of the stone castle used to be associated with the reign of Přemysl Otakar I (1197-1230). After a Romanesque rotunda, which according to the architectural plan belongs to the oldest Bohemian type, it is possible to date the castle foundation to an earlier period – probably to the third fourth of the 12th century. The contemporary castle is given, roughly speaking, by a far-reaching reconstruction during the reign of Václav IV, from which the so-called margrave house comes.

Mariánské Lázně

The municipal architecture set in a wide valley in the middle of the surrounding forest hills, numerous mineral springs, spa parks, colonnades, spa houses in neo-historical architectural styles are the proof. The attractive character of Mariánské Lázně is given by the genius loci – the spirit of the place - creating the atmosphere of the golden age of the spa town.

Bečov nad Teplou

The historical center of Bečov is highlighted by a complex of one of the best preserved Czech late Gothic castles. The high rock cliff is dominated by two tower constructions – a smaller one with a castle chapel of Virgin Mary´s Visitation with unique mural paintings from 1400 and a bigger residential tower (donjon) built around 1500. In the safe room of the Lower chateau there is one of the most precious treasures of the Czech Republic territory on display, particularly St. Maurus´s reliquary. It was made in the first quarter of the 13th century for the black monk monastery in Florennes in today´s Belgium and it was to preserve the relics of St. Maurus.

Františkovy Lázně

The decision to found “Ves Císaře Františka” (Emperor František’s Village) in 1793 started a brand new area in the development of the whole West Bohemia region. The high reputation of Františkovy Lázně, as the health resort amidst greenery with miraculously curative effects of the local natural springs, was quick to cross European borders and reached across the ocean. The development of the present-day only reinforces its glory.

Chodovar
